Just a place for me to write down some thoughts and maybe get some feedback... maybe not.
I have never seen anyone tip. I beleive the reasoning is you are paying for the talent as is.
We did. But the fact that I almost passed out and he went out and got me a Pepsi might have been the deciding factor.
I think it might be like a hairdresser- if they own the shop, don't. If they don't, tip.I tipped my piercing guy, and he seemed pleased.I have no idea if this is universal or not-
I tipped my tattoo person, and he owned the shop. But I was also getting the "family discount," so it may have been an exceptional circumstance.
I can't help with this one. But in a pinch I'd follow the hairdresser rule.
I'd say, if you don't cry or scream -- tip 'em.
Or tip em if you scream too much!
Okay people! There shall be no more mention of screaming or any other sound associated with great pain.
WS, thank you for letting us in on this--and for labelling it self care.I may be following in your...um...footsteps.
So I googled this question and got too different answers..http://tattoo.about.com/cs/beginners/a/tipping.htm http://www.bodyadorned.com/content/119/0/I think this is maybe one of those better to overdress than underdress... better to be early than late.... better to tip than not tip... kind of questions. But by all means, have some fun with it!
I misspelled two! I think the University of Colorado is thinking of revoking my diploma. Yikes!
Hard to remember, but I think I tipped mine. And I'm just catching up as I procrastinate one of the million things I should be doing and I just want to say I'm sorry about the finality, the "over-ness". Prayers from here. As always. And great admiration for how you share and how you carry on.
I would go with the hairdresser rule. Yes, tip if it's not the owner. No, don't tip the owner of the tat shop.
I was told that yes, you do tip. Then not only did I give him a pretty good tip but my wife showed up to watch part of the process and brought a bottle of tequila as a present for the guys in the shop. I thought that was a little weird, but they seemed to appreciate it.
